Current Vacancies

Fixed term | Academic year 2025/6

The Royal School House (RSH) currently has a vacancy for a Graduate Boarding Assistant. This role involves supervising boarding students (aged 12-18) in shift patterns during the working week (Mon-Fri). The successful candidate will work alongside the RSH staff team to assist boarding students in their day-to-day routines. Although the Graduate Boarding Assistant will primarily work with our male students, they will be expected to contribute towards the ‘home-from-home’ atmosphere amongst all our boarders.

From waking students up until the lights go out at night, duties may involve supervising meals, supporting students with their homework, and being a warm and welcoming presence in the boarding house, available to pupils and promoting a family-like environment.

 

Person Specification

We would love to hear from you if:

  • you have relevant experience of working with teenagers, especially boys;
  • you are available throughout the academic school year (end of August-May) to be residential in the boarding house during the week (Mon-Fri) and can be reasonably flexible with regard to duty shifts;
  • you understand the ethos and lifestyle of a boarding house and are able to support that ethos.

 

Benefits

The Graduate Boarding Assistant receives a salary, board, and lodgings. Supervisory duties throughout the week total that of a part time position, with flexible working arrangements for other external commitments. A private flat (single accommodation) is provided within the Royal School House (during term-time only). 

As this post requires working closely with young people, Garda Vetting must be carried out prior to taking up the position. You must also be willing to undertake child safeguarding training, first aid training, and induction training.
